Okay.. I know this isn’t a ‘camcorder’ per se, but you can take some video with it. I’m just super stoked on this offer.I just bought this camera after doing some extensive research on my own over the last two weeks. This is the Canon EOS Rebel XSi DSLR. I’ve been searching for one for a while, and after some debating between the XS vs. XSi, I decided to go with the higher MP camera (also with additional features).
The reason I’m writing about this deal is that Amazon has an AWESOME deal on this camera right now. It normally lists at $699, but is on sale for $598, but if you buy the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS telephoto zoom lens at the time of purchase (normally lists for $399), you get instant savings of $200. So to make a long story short, I bought the camera and lense which would normally cost around $1000 for only $638!!!! I’ve looked for this camera and found it locally in the $600 – $700 range locally. The camera also comes with a EF-S 18-55mm, f3.5-5.6 IS zoom lens. So that’s 2 lenses (telephoto, and standard zoom lens as well as the camera body) for only $638. This offer is valid through November 21, 2009. And it comes with FREE super saver shipping!

The Kodak Zx1 HD Pocket camcorder is another “shoot and share” type mini-camcorder which are extremely popular. Similar to the Flip Video series, these cameras shoot in HD, but at 720p vs 1080p, and are extremely easy-to-use, basically point and shoot. This camera also has USB interface allowing for easy transfer of video footage to a computer/laptop. This particular camera has rubberized doors to protect all ports and is resistant to rain, snow, sand and dirt which is a nice feature.
Currently (September 25th, 2009) this camera is normally listed at $149.00, but is on sale for a great price of $119.82!!

I just found out that the Panasonic HDC-TM20-K SD & HDD Camcorder that is currently on sale at $529.99 can have an additional $200 knocked off the price by entering the code TM20DEAL at checkout. That’s going to bring this camera down to a amazing $329.99!!! People, this is a great deal. The camera also has free shipping as well.
This camcorder can shoot in full 1080p HD, and uses 16DB SD built in HDD memory.

The other day @kidwithoutmusic asked me what I would recommend for a HD camcorder int eh $100 to $300 price range. I recommended that Flip Series or the new Kodak Zi8 HD are worth looking, but @kidwithoutmusic also threw in the Creative Labs Vado HD. I remember reading and posting about Creative Labs Vado HD 8GB Pocket Video Camcorder about a month ago, so I thought I’d take a closer look at this camcorder.
First glance, it’s very similar to the Flip Mino with simple controls and display on one side, and the lense on the other. It shoots in 720p like the flip (2 hours of HD footoage), but also offers VGA resolution.. which can give you 8 hours of footate. Interesting that you can shoot in standard definition. It also has USB built into the unit, but also has a removable and rechargeable lithium battery. So the real two large differences I’m seeing over the Flip Mino is the ability to record in Standard Def and the ability to have a removeable / rechargeable battery. Both cameras have 2x digital zoom as well. The Flip Mino is a little cheaper, but I would expect some sales and offers on this camera in the future.

I had a few conversations with a Tweep (@SeerMax) about good camcorders, and she was interested in picking up the Panasonic HDC-HS250-K HHD HD Camcorder (with 120 GB drive). I wasn’t familiar with this camcorder, so I thought I’d take a look at this camera. Holy cow.. is this a nice unit!
This is going in a different direction than the mini-camcorder or shoot-and-share camcorders I’ve been talking about lately. SeerMax and I initially talked about the quality and durability of the more consumer/convenience based camcorders and it was agreed that the durability is often questioned. When we start to go to higher-end equipment and up to professional grade equipment, we definitely see improvements in the craftsmanship and inclusion of upper-end components that make these units last longer and perform better. Obviously, I need to put a gigantic asterisk next to this, since it always depends on the camera, the brand and model you get as well as what you’re exposing the gear to.
This camera looks absolutely fantastic and having a 120 GB drive is nice. It shoots in true 1080p HD and can shoot 11MP still photos. I saw one mention where it was advertised that it can do time-lapse, and apparently, this is not true. If anyone else can comment on this, that would be great.
Currently this camera lists at $899.95, but at the time of this post, you can purchase this camera for $762.26 after savings and you can also get a FREE Polaroid ProGo Printer!

Here we have the ever popular Flip Mino Series camcorder but this bundle deal includes a AC Adapter to charge your Mino. The AC Adapater is basically a powered USB port for your camera which is great if you’re not going to have a laptop available or desktop computer to recharge your camcorder.
Normally, this bundle costs $184.99, but it’s currently running at $129.99, which is a 30% savings. A good deal!

I’m very excited to post this review. I purchased this camera for my wife about a year ago, and I can’t believe how perfect this camera is for capturing great family moments! It is unbelievably easy to operate. A big red button to record, how can you make it any easier? The size is great as well. It can easily fit in your pocket and be out in a moments notice. One of the biggest buying points for me was the interface. No cables, no power adapter, it is ALL handled via USB. I always have my laptop near by, so no problems transferring files or powering up the camera. I was also very impressed with their software. It was easy to use and quite good. Normally, I rarely look at the tools that come with the camera, but they’re quite good. I like to post videos on Facebook and YouTube as well as send videos to family and friends via email. This program easily converts these for you in formats and filesizes that are perfect.
I believe the need to have a few improvements on this. It has limited zoom capability and the anti-shake stability feature is pretty rough yet. But really, I have to say that this camera is the best camera I’ve ever used in the family setting. Very hassle free and a great value. I highly recommend this camera to my friends and family members.
