This is a another scorcher deal at Amazon! Here we have the Samsung HMX-H105 HD SSD Flash Memory Camcorder. The technical details states (Full HD (1920 x 1080/60i or 30p) video; 4.7-megapixel still capture), but there is a controversial review, that it doesn’t. So please make sure you do some research on this.
The camcorder normally lists ofr $729.99 and Amazon’s prices is $649.99. They’re adding the manufacturer’s instant rebate, dropping the price to $599.99. But this is where it gets real good. They’re offering a checkout promotion code that will drop it another $200. So you can get this camcorder that normally lists for $729.99 for $399.99!!! That’s $330 off list price. Awesome.
All you need to do to get the additional $200 off, is to enter HIO5SAVE at checkout. This offer is valid through November 14,2009.

Today I wanted to talk about the Sanyo Xacti HD1010 HD camcorder. This is a great little mini-camcorder that shoots in true 1080p HD and is currently on sale at Amazon.. and a great sale it is. It normally lists at $649.00, but is on sale for a screaming $349.99 (that’s a $300 savings 46%)! Please view the great video below that goes through the features as well as showing the video quality.

Yesterday @hallapunk asked via Twitter about the Canon FS200. I love it when people ask me about camcorders. I love doing some of the research when I’m not familiar with a particular make/model. So today, we’re going to take a closer look at the Canon FS200 Flash Memory Camcorder.
Canon is a great brand, and everyone knows this. This camera is compact, has great zoom capabilities (37x optical zoom), and records direct to Flash Memory which is very nice. The camcorder normally lists at $329.99, but is currently on sale for $267.18 which includes FREE super saver shipping.
The camcorder has image stabilization capabilities, but only shoots in standard definition (this is not a HD camcorder). Like many camcorders it can take digital stills. The view screen appears to be quite large while the overall camera size is small and looks very easy to use. I would personally prefer a HD model, so if you wanted to take it to the next level, the Canon VIXIA HF200 which I talked about last week might be a better fit.
To see some image quality tests, please scroll down to the bottom and view the video there.

Flip has introduced their 2nd generation Flip Mino HD camcorder. The 2nd generation has a new look and some additional new features.
First of all, the look has changed from sleek black to brushed-metal front and soft, rounded edges. The improvements include a 2″ anti-glare color display. The original Mino had a 1.5″ display. The largest change is the memory. They’re now supplying the Mino with 8 GBs of memory. The original Mino could only hold 4 GBs. Additional they’re offering a HDMI output so you can connect directly to HDTVs.
If you purchase this camcorder you can get a Free Flip Accessory! With this new camcorder, if portability is priority as well as memory, this camera seems to be a better buy vs. the Flip Ultra HD. You still have the advantage of the recharageable batteries in the Ultra over the rechargeable Lithium-ion battery of the Mino, but that is a pretty small advantage since you can get adapters for the Mino to charge without a computer.

The next factor to include is the camera is capable to have extended IR (infrared) lighting available and what media it records it video too. You can record to tape, DVD, harddrive or flash media. Since price was a factor, tape was the cheapest, and I found the Sony DCR-HC52 MiniDV Handycam Camcorder. Oddly I reviewed this a few months ago (not ghost hunting related).
This is a great little camera. Here is where they have to say about the NightShot feature:
NightShot Plus Infrared System In low-light environments, the NightShot Plus Infrared System lets you shoot color video with a less greenish tint than previous infrared systems.
If you need additional IR illuminator, check out this page out for brackets and night vision lights for the camcorder.
You can pick this camera up for around $200 on Amazon. It’s an older model, but could serve well on a chilly ghost hunt. If you have any other recommendations for a ghost hunting camera, please drop me a email or comment on this post!

Today while looking at various camcorder blogs, I came across a few Sony Webbie reviews. And after reading these, I thought I’d look at this a little more closely. The Sony Webbie MHS-PM1 is a very popular shoot-and-share mini camcorder on the market, similar to Flip Video Ultra HD, Flip Video Mino HD or Kodak Zi8. I was under the early impression that the Kodak Zi8 was the only camacorder out of this group that shoots in true 1080p, and I was wrong. The Sony Webbie MHS-PM1 can shoot 1080p or 720p, it is also similar to the Kodak Zi8 in the fact that you can have expandable memory depending on your needs (granted it has to be Memory Stick PRO Duo).
One feature that stands this out of the pack is the ability to ‘flip’ the lense so when shooting yourself, you can watch the display. Both the Flips and the Kodak do not do this. Watching a few video reviews on this camera, there have been several mentions of the mic picking up chassis sound. Meaning when you’re adjusting your grip, you clearly hear the shuffle sounds on the audio.
I noticed that this camcorder is currently on sale. You can walk away with this camcorder for a great price of $145.85. Not sure how long this sale will last, that is a great price! If you buy this, remember to buy Memory Sicks!

Well, to continue my interest in great POV (Point of View) camcorders, I came across the Twenty20 VholdR Countour HD Camera (thanks @cyclingslopes). This camera, and it seems there are so many great POV cameras on the market now, is fantastic! If you decide to get this camera, I would also look at some of the accessories (windshield mount is something that caught my eye) that come with it!
I found a great video review that shows the features and the capabilities of this POV camcorder. You’ll need to scroll down to see it. If anyone has the camera, please comment and let me know what you think!

So I’ve been seeing the commercials of the new Apple iPod Nano and the ability for it to shoot video. It seems with this super surge of “shoot and share” mini-camcorders, it’s only a matter of time before phones and mp3 players are stepping up to the plate. Based on the commercials it seems that the Nano is really looking like a true contender.
Today on Twitter, I thought I’d post this question and @FlipInFocus provided me with a great side by side comparison between the Apple iPod Nano and the Flip Video Mino (SD). This comparison is using the SD version since the Nano does not shoot in HD. I was quite suprised by the results:
The cameras discussed in this review are the following:
