Today while looking at various camcorder blogs, I came across a few Sony Webbie reviews. And after reading these, I thought I’d look at this a little more closely. The Sony Webbie MHS-PM1 is a very popular shoot-and-share mini camcorder on the market, similar to Flip Video Ultra HD, Flip Video Mino HD or Kodak Zi8. I was under the early impression that the Kodak Zi8 was the only camacorder out of this group that shoots in true 1080p, and I was wrong. The Sony Webbie MHS-PM1 can shoot 1080p or 720p, it is also similar to the Kodak Zi8 in the fact that you can have expandable memory depending on your needs (granted it has to be Memory Stick PRO Duo).

One feature that stands this out of the pack is the ability to ‘flip’ the lense so when shooting yourself, you can watch the display. Both the Flips and the Kodak do not do this. Watching a few video reviews on this camera, there have been several mentions of the mic picking up chassis sound. Meaning when you’re adjusting your grip, you clearly hear the shuffle sounds on the audio.

I noticed that this camcorder is currently on sale. You can walk away with this camcorder for a great price of $145.85. Not sure how long this sale will last, that is a great price! If you buy this, remember to buy Memory Sicks!

I recently took the Webbie with me to shoot interviews on the fly at a convention I went to. It was so easy to use and the videos in SD mode were good. Audio was surprisingly good too! I would go back to the newsroom each day, connect to the web via usb and upload to tubemogul.

On the HD side the videos I show of my son in the backyard were excellent. All this and it fits in my pocket like a big pack of gum. Oh and the swivel head is a great feature too.

Other plus's for me were the long battery life and the ability to use the Pro Duo cards. 16GB in mine.

I recommend this for anyone who wants to shoot video on the fly!

I PURCHASED A PURPLE WEBBIE FOR MYSELF TO SHOOT SHORT VIDEOS OF MY GRANDSON. I LOVE THE SIZE AND THE FACT YOU CAN TAKE PICTURES AND VIDEO WITH THE SONY. MY DAUGHTER LOVED IT AFTER I SHOWED HER THAT SONY'S SOFTWARE MADE IT POSSIBLE TO EMAIL MY VIDEOS WHICH I COULD NOT DO WITH MY FUIJI CAMERA. I GAVE THE PURPLE SONY WEBBIE TO MY DAUGHTER AND ORDERED AN ORANGE ONE FOR ME! (Buy the case also on Amazon you will love it matches perfectly and protects Webbie in your purse.)
Better than I expected...

I purchased this so that I could share video of my newborn son with family via the internet. As an Apple person, I chose the Webbie because it was compatible. What I did not know was how easy it would be. All I have to do is plug it in my computer and it pretty much takes care of itself. My only negative is that the menu on the camera, to delete photos and such is not easy to navigate. But otherwise, this is a great camera, small, light, takes great photos and movies that turn into home movies easily. I even carry it in an old cell phone holder I had and wear it on my hip for easy access!
its all about best resolution (better that most top consumer camcorders)

if you looking a indoor camcorder, forget this camcorder ,
but if you have a lot of sunnys days and want a super high resolution cam. camcorder info site has the resolution at (700 lw/ph horizontal, 800 lw/ph vertical) close to the canon hf 20
quote}
The Canon HF20 has the best video resolution we've ever recorded on a consumer camcorder
and its scores are comparable to some of the professional models we've tested (like the Sony HDR-FX1000 and Canon XL H1A). The camcorder measured an approximate video resolution of 800 line widths per picture height (lw/ph) horizontal and 900 lw/ph vertical. This is a huge bump up from the 675 lw/ph horizontal and 600 lw/ph vertical recorded by last year's Canon HF11.
how? they belive this camcorder has a bigger camera sensor
but ,that all,
this is cheap 180.00 camcorder ,that has the sharpest noise free(daylight) 720x1080 h.d. which does nature and ocean the hardest to capture with so much detail (leaves ,grass, etc)
I have been though a lot of camera and h.d. camcorder/and returns .
this has the sharpest and rich fullness even on leaves Ive seen.
but again, the cam has to pan slowly and in sunlight,
I can live with that ,if it breaks I just buy another one.
I also got the webbie with the swivel head
and it also is just what I was looking for all of the last year,
thanks sony IAm very active recording again.

The Sony webbie is perfect easy portability.I keep it in my purse or pocket and can take videos within seconds. No learning curve. Movies are really good for the price and size. I shoot in HD and this webbie rivals my expensive Canon HD camcorder. I can quickly put the movies on the web and send to friends in less the 5 minutes. It also takes still pictures but they are not as good as the video. If you want a camcorder you can toss in your purse or pocket and also impress people with its quality output - this is it.
